Happy Thought: Rain

Rain is a beautiful thing.  I'm from Arizona and about the only time we get rain is during monsoon season and even then, oftentimes it only rains just enough to make your car look really disgusting and the air ridiculously humid.  Dancing in the rain is not something we do often enough.  It is the most glorious day when the skies open up and rain pours down.  Anytime that happens in Arizona it's almost a requirement to stop whatever you're doing, run outside, and feel the falling raindrops.  And not just to feel them, but to soak them up, go crazy, and run around like a child because it may be a whole year before you see that much water falling from the sky again.  Today I had the strongest urge to run around like a crazy lunatic when I saw the rain fall but I had to remind myself that I was a grown woman and people (mainly my neighbors) might be a little concerned if they saw me getting that excited about the rain.  Which I guess is a little sad that I would be that worried about what other people think, but I was.  So instead of unleashing my inner child I continued on with normal business but stopped to take a picture of this lovely rainbow.  Today not only did we get rain but a rainbow too!  That makes for a great day!  This rainbow was pretty faint and couldn't be seen easily through the gray, forboding clouds.  It made me think of how sometimes in life we really have to search for the beauty.  Life is never easy and sometimes it takes great effort to find the rainbows or the good things but I promise it's worth it. Life is so good!  I'm so excited that it rained today and with the bonus of a rainbow I just might have to call home to rub it in. :)

Happy Thought of the Day: Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches

So for my blog I've decided to concentrate on the small things in life that make me smile.  For my first post ever, I'm going to write about PB&J sandwiches.  Though I still bring PB&J sandwiches with me to school even at the age of 22, it always reminds me of elementary school.  Those were the good ol' days!  My mom used to pack my lunch for me every day and I LOVED PB&J sandwiches.  They were my favorite part of lunch.  Not the cookies, or the chips, or the capri sun.  (A little weird, I know)  Now my mom was no ordinary sandwich maker, she was a professional.  She knew the exact amount of peanut butter and jelly to put on the bread and lovingly cut them into triangles for me each morning.  They were perfect!  Mostly thinking of PB&J sandwiches makes me smile because I think of my mom and the effort she made to get up early every morning to make my lunch.  She's the best!  But boy do I love PB&J sandwiches.
